Ash Brown hair colour is chic with an edge , it is an amazing way to update your hair colour.
It is a cool, deep tone without traces of red or gold. This hair colour pops on those who have blue or green eyes. Brown hair does not have to be boring!
Medium ash brown is ideal for cool, medium skin tones with pink undertones. Medium ash brown has the tints of green and blue underneath that come with ash.
Looking for an edgy colour change from your brown or blonde hair then this is worth a mention at your next visit to the salon.
I smell a colour update so, Christmas is way behind us we can now embrace lighter shade steps on our future visits to the salon. Especially as the weather warms up.
Brunettes can go richer from darker hues to lighter hues. Brunettes can be smooched by the sun as well.
Platinum – still a firm favourite but you have got to protect your hair to maintain shine instead of dull hair with this colour.
Sun smooched blonde- The colour thats like your back from a tropical beach and not behind a desk.
Natural- Let there be roots , even the colour you were born with . I myself have been going this route thanks to Michelle and I am loving the results as Balayage gives you the best of both worlds.
Just some visual inspo should you girls need any
We all see these amazing colours and styles on Pinterest and we pin them and say to ourselves I want this and have it stored to show our colourist, or we think maybe I could attempt this myself! “No” !! Please always for any extreme colours going darker or lighter a colourist is qualified and it is not simple to do hair colour..
We want to avoid you feeling like said picture above ^
But, there is no denying you can’t have the colour you are after or somewhere near it listen to your colourist they are qualified for a reason and taking you miles away from your natural hair colour is extreme!
Lets say your hair colour is naturally a light brown and your asking for an un-natural looking black hue or blue-black hue? It is going to be obvious not that you can not go darker but the colourist will know the right shade that works for you and only you.
The most important thing is to emulate your natural shade as much as possible. Maybe one shade darker or lighter at first.
Highlights you’ve seen and have it set in your head that you want sun kissed everywhere!
Highlights are meant to look like they were cause by the sun so over highlighting your hair too light, looks fake.. You need balance instead of super thick stripes or unblended uniform colour!
So’ you’ve chanced a box colour on your roots! The hair along your hairline are finer, so they absorb colour quicker and now you look darker! So a trip to the salon were you could have saved yourself a few bob by booking in for a top up or surround by your colourist.
Think about your complexion, You would never purchase a foundation two shades darker than your skin tone and go out in public! Why would you with you hair. Michelle and Carol always consider the complexion listen to your colourist and all the factors. Believe me you will feel more natural and see how your hair can compliment your skin tone, eye colour, even eyebrows..
You bleached your hair at home and now it is orange! Box colour is not fully able to lift dark pigment out of strands! In a salon the colourist will know the exact amount of peroxide needed (and how long) depending on the health of the hair.
If you’ve made is this far in life without any major colour disasters your luckier than most.
I cannot stress enough, listen to your colourist they have experience and colour knowledge they qualified in this field. Have a consultation when considering a colour change from there you can take the advice and digest it before you decide what to do. We all want it and want it now but in the long run you have to be happy and as long as your hair is done everything else follows.
We want good hair , we want our clients to have amazing hair, we want good hair days #everyday
Bronde- The Clue is in the name! Bronde is a colour technique that fuses brown and blonde to create a sun kissed rich hair effect.
By Blending Brown and Blonde lets you enjoy the best of both worlds. Balayage is always an amazing technique for when you want to go lighter of darker but not high maintenance so win, win and bronde will be a winner for those opting for a change but not drastic ..
So, if you favour rich, natural brunette tones , this is one to try.
Bronde is a technique done best in a salon by a colourist Mochas are perfect for the Bronde look as they are rich and glossy. L’Oreal Professional bleaches have advanced technologies.
How a colourist places bleach to strands is a technique and our girls are masters at colour placement to highlight specific facial areas, to lift and enhance I mean who does not want a hairlift?
Colour and toner both contribute to colouring hair but in different ways, clients are not aware that you can get your hair toned in between colour service to brighten it up to keep you going until your next appointment.
The difference between hair colour and toner? Well, hair colour is a chemical process and yes ladies all know this but just case you were not aware Toner is not for all hair types ‘but’ most used in double processing this means hair that is bleached up or blonde.
We are a L’Oreal Professional salon and what we would use of many options for colour would be L’Oreal Richesse- Alkaline tone on tone cream colour
Ammonia free, improved white hair coverage by up to 70%
L’Oreal Dia Light- Acid tone on tone gel cream colour
Ammonia free and the more natural hair with luminous reflects.
Maintenance should be top of your list as fashion colours such as pastel tones fade fast. Toner in between colour , blonde, balayage, highlights rids hair of those unwanted tones like orange, orange yellow and yellow, brassy hair colour fade..
A blonde toner can neutralise and correct the tone of your hair without lightening it further.
Colour is the chemical process and toner cancels out unwanted tones in your hair.
Highly recommend this service in between colour service. We all hate that fading phase in between.
We all with summer love to go lighter and brighter ‘but’ a new wave that has been popular is going back to your roots and not just balayage although this is a great way to ease you into going back to root colour or having a low maintenance colour. I have been colouring my hair so long like most ”Can you remember what your natural hair colour even is”
If you have been thinking about going a darker blonde or adding caramel , coral or tones to your hair always let your colourist know that although you want a dark blonde you are not looking to brighten it up as your colourist will interpret this as something completely different and we can’t have us having the meltdowns so visuals are great when thinking of that colour change.
This is a fab example of dark ashy blonde that is not washed out.
You could always ease your way and start Balayage , actually this would be recommended if you are scared to take the leap at once this way you are easing yourself in.
There are so many shades to suit different skin tones
I have been highlights , bleach, root colour for years and with the help of master of colour Michelle I am going to take the leap and go back to my natural tones saying that I adore the platinum Balayage so I am going to lean more that way. Visuals are great for any change of colour so the colourist can get a fell for what you mean visually.
This is such a fab colour she is ashy blonde and it suits a treat. Colourist have genius ways of adding light or tones to frame the face if you choose or add movement.
This colour has a wide spectrum of shades and we love it

To get the very most out of your consultation with a stylist and your salon experience be open and honest, communication is key. You often hear a friend or someone you know say ” I do not like my haircut” ”I can not manage it” We at foxandbow do not want any client to feel like this, so we will be honest about what is manageable for you.
Some Tips when you are thinking of having a new cut/colour now or in the future. Requesting a cut that you simply wont have the time to properly style at home, whether it be too time consuming or does not suit your life-style. Same goes for colour, if you think you will more likely come in every six months ( instead of typical 4-6 weeks) then we suggest a colour that is best to what you want but requires less up keep. Be honest, if you like a particular celebrity’s style, what is it about him/her can you identify with? Hair type? appearance? Style? Try not to overwhelm yourself with pictures pick your 3 pictures and the stylist can determine the common denominator to narrow it down to figure out what it is you like and can suggest a variation that is best for you.
TRUST your stylist, remember that they are a professional whose job it is to make you look good and can fit in with your lifestyle. Do not be afraid, we want to get to know you and all about you not just you’r hair..
