The short, lob, bob hairstyle is still trending for this Autumn/Winter. The street style from New York fashion week are embracing this trend still, whether blunt, graduated, layered or soft shoulder length is still doing its thing:)
I love the glamour of this style and what it brings. I am a big fan of street style you see the chicest style from hair inspo, outfit inspo. Gone are the days of having to get the inside visuals from the catwalks you are seeing the style on the streets around these shows and its majorly refreshing.
You never know what a new fashion month will bring but we are 100% going to be seeing this shoulder grazing style for a while
We all see these amazing colours and styles on Pinterest and we pin them and say to ourselves I want this and have it stored to show our colourist, or we think maybe I could attempt this myself! “No” !! Please always for any extreme colours going darker or lighter a colourist is qualified and it is not simple to do hair colour..
We want to avoid you feeling like said picture above ^
But, there is no denying you can’t have the colour you are after or somewhere near it listen to your colourist they are qualified for a reason and taking you miles away from your natural hair colour is extreme!
Lets say your hair colour is naturally a light brown and your asking for an un-natural looking black hue or blue-black hue? It is going to be obvious not that you can not go darker but the colourist will know the right shade that works for you and only you.
The most important thing is to emulate your natural shade as much as possible. Maybe one shade darker or lighter at first.
Highlights you’ve seen and have it set in your head that you want sun kissed everywhere!
Highlights are meant to look like they were cause by the sun so over highlighting your hair too light, looks fake.. You need balance instead of super thick stripes or unblended uniform colour!
So’ you’ve chanced a box colour on your roots! The hair along your hairline are finer, so they absorb colour quicker and now you look darker! So a trip to the salon were you could have saved yourself a few bob by booking in for a top up or surround by your colourist.
Think about your complexion, You would never purchase a foundation two shades darker than your skin tone and go out in public! Why would you with you hair. Michelle and Carol always consider the complexion listen to your colourist and all the factors. Believe me you will feel more natural and see how your hair can compliment your skin tone, eye colour, even eyebrows..
You bleached your hair at home and now it is orange! Box colour is not fully able to lift dark pigment out of strands! In a salon the colourist will know the exact amount of peroxide needed (and how long) depending on the health of the hair.
If you’ve made is this far in life without any major colour disasters your luckier than most.
I cannot stress enough, listen to your colourist they have experience and colour knowledge they qualified in this field. Have a consultation when considering a colour change from there you can take the advice and digest it before you decide what to do. We all want it and want it now but in the long run you have to be happy and as long as your hair is done everything else follows.
We want good hair , we want our clients to have amazing hair, we want good hair days #everyday
Colour and toner both contribute to colouring hair but in different ways, clients are not aware that you can get your hair toned in between colour service to brighten it up to keep you going until your next appointment.
The difference between hair colour and toner? Well, hair colour is a chemical process and yes ladies all know this but just case you were not aware Toner is not for all hair types ‘but’ most used in double processing this means hair that is bleached up or blonde.
We are a L’Oreal Professional salon and what we would use of many options for colour would be L’Oreal Richesse- Alkaline tone on tone cream colour
Ammonia free, improved white hair coverage by up to 70%
L’Oreal Dia Light- Acid tone on tone gel cream colour
Ammonia free and the more natural hair with luminous reflects.
Maintenance should be top of your list as fashion colours such as pastel tones fade fast. Toner in between colour , blonde, balayage, highlights rids hair of those unwanted tones like orange, orange yellow and yellow, brassy hair colour fade..
A blonde toner can neutralise and correct the tone of your hair without lightening it further.
Colour is the chemical process and toner cancels out unwanted tones in your hair.
Highly recommend this service in between colour service. We all hate that fading phase in between.
We all with summer love to go lighter and brighter ‘but’ a new wave that has been popular is going back to your roots and not just balayage although this is a great way to ease you into going back to root colour or having a low maintenance colour. I have been colouring my hair so long like most ”Can you remember what your natural hair colour even is”
If you have been thinking about going a darker blonde or adding caramel , coral or tones to your hair always let your colourist know that although you want a dark blonde you are not looking to brighten it up as your colourist will interpret this as something completely different and we can’t have us having the meltdowns so visuals are great when thinking of that colour change.
This is a fab example of dark ashy blonde that is not washed out.
You could always ease your way and start Balayage , actually this would be recommended if you are scared to take the leap at once this way you are easing yourself in.
There are so many shades to suit different skin tones
I have been highlights , bleach, root colour for years and with the help of master of colour Michelle I am going to take the leap and go back to my natural tones saying that I adore the platinum Balayage so I am going to lean more that way. Visuals are great for any change of colour so the colourist can get a fell for what you mean visually.
This is such a fab colour she is ashy blonde and it suits a treat. Colourist have genius ways of adding light or tones to frame the face if you choose or add movement.
This colour has a wide spectrum of shades and we love it

Are you an expecting mom , few in the knows as you are experiencing so many major changes in your body your hair during pregnancy, with the influx of hormones your hair may feel thicker. Pregnancy changes the growing , resting and falling out phases your hair usually go through so you feel like your hair is thicker but this is in fact because you are not losing it.
Your hair grows a lot faster during pregnancy as your body experiences an influx of estrogen.
So a lot of questions we would get asked is it safe to colour my hair”? Our answer to that would be if you are cautious? Consider waiting until the second trimester.
Colouring hair semi, permanent and highlights are safe during pregnancy because this small amount is not considered harmful to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Highlights are not placed onto scalp they are placed onto individual strands of hair therefore not absorbed into the bloodstream. Always tell your hairdresser and they can chat with you regarding any concerns you may have.
So you now you’re a Mom and you are experiencing hair loss, some women more than others will lose a lot of hair but please don’t stress this is so common. This is because you Estrogen levels take a tumble usually happen around 2-3mths after having baby. Please know this is temporary and be gentle with your hair through this phase and take care of your hair until normal hair growth resumes which takes up to 12-mths.
Avoid tight hairstyles , pulling or styling the hair too tight. Be careful with heat try a heat protection product if blow-drying etc. sometimes these can not be avoided but when you are in salon with your stylist try a treatment regularly to help care for new hair.
Try some supplements , Vitamin B Complex – this is an important Vitamin to reduce hair fall post pregnancy for hair proteins like keratin.
Omega-3 – Fatty acids, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids are essential for healthy hair.
So if your expecting or just welcomed your bundle of joy home I hope this was helpful.
Your hairdresser is always on hand to help ease any concerns you have.
You always want to keep that fresh from the salon hair colour but if someone could tell you how to maintain it and have it for that little bit longer.. Girl yes please 🙂
Colour does fade this is true but colour can be maintained and we want our hair to grow that is without a doubt, healthy hair grows!
I always feel my colour has changed over time from shampooing but I have also noticed since I started using salon products recommended to me I have gotten longer and this is a hallelujah in between colour service.
Highlights, balayage or any bleached hair do not really change extremely but you are stripping the hair of its natural pigment to achieve certain colour. your colourist will always tell you the right shampoo, conditioner and treatment mask to use , they are not making a sale believe me they are salon made products for a reason. They will be your saviour , like skin products I certainly would never go without my moisturizer for my skin why would your hair go without it!
Highlights will fade slightly over time ‘but’ having the right products and having a toner service in between colour service. We offer a service called foxytone in salon and any bleached, highlighted, balayage hair girls should avail of your colour will be fresh and pop to see you through until your next appointment. Toners do not last forever so every couple of weeks will I promise be your saviour.
Colour does not rinse out it oxidises that is why you are seeing colour fade, precaution to prevent this to shield hair from fade avail of these services in salon of tone , having the products you need out of salon to hand these will save your hair.

It is not always Blondes that have more fun! The Beauty of brown hair is that it is really versatile.
You can add the prettiest honey, toffee, espresso and caramel shades to give it that sun kissed look.
Adding lights from mid lengths to end adds depth and illuminates the hair. Summer is coming and whether you want to freshen up you hair, to give that sun kissed look brown hair really is versatile.

Styling your own hair to suit you, whether you have always had it long , short, a fringe, tried all the shades of colour on a whim because lets be honest we have all wanted to be blonde one day, brown, highlighted , dip-dyed and we were gonna attempt it ourselves.
I will just pop into the chemist and put a box colour in, feck it sure isn’t the girl on the box fab and look you get a free conditioner #winning
I was 16 and after a summer of sun In does anyone remember the sun in? well ‘ this product you spray in your hair and it develops with a blast of heat (hairdryer stuck to the head) going out feeling like Buffy the vampire slayer! Swearing to your mom the sun was giving your burnt sun kissed hair.. I have memories of going home with my first box colour and swearing to my mom there was no peroxide in it! so me and my friend headed up to the bathroom and after two hours admiring my yellow, orange hair in the mirror and my mom comes in and reads the ingredients and starts screaming ”your hair is going to fall out” ah jesus your father ‘lets hope he does not notice’!! To be honest my father followed the rule of ”Ask your mom” so I knew I was grand! So at 16 and looking back now I was mad but we all have the colour disasters. Right?
Having the right colour and style for you makes such a big difference I mean we all wanted to look like Jennifer Aniston and have her famous haircut she deputed on Friends.
But, to my horror now ! and it does not suit everyone so you leave the hairdressers after insisting you wanted the Jennifer cut with 5 million layers and not a clue what you were going to do when you washed it yourself!
Any who! getting the perfect hair consultation is essential when you want a change. The colourist and stylist both take into account many factors , face, natural hair colour, face shape, hair texture, how you can manage it. So, you leave the salon confident and happy.
Do not use a box colour , it is not worth it!
Get advice on products , salon products are not sold in a supermarket for a reason many reasons. To be clear, this is in no way to suggest that supermarket products do not say what they say they do. But! Typically contain chemicals that which can strip your hair that you have spent money in the salon perfecting. Salon products are years of research and development by hairdressers themselves that know about what hair needs.
The key is to choose those with more high-grade ingredients and fewer chemicals like www.kerastase.com and pureology.com and many more salon products that are tailor made for different hair requirements and colour treated hair created for professional colourists and stylists and their clients .
